Hda Architects

HDA Architects:

HDA Architects is a small architecture firm known for designing timeless buildings located in Chesterfield, Missouri. After graduating from college, I had the opportunity to become part of their team as their new graphic designer.

When I arrived, HDA already had a logo and branding style. They were looking to put their branding to the next level, polish it, and make it stand out from the other architecture firms but not completely change it. My vision for their branding was to make it clean, simple, elegant, and sophisticated. The challenge that I got was to rebrand a company without completely changing its essence. How could I mix the old with the new and create a timeless style that would work for years to come.

My main goal was to showcase their work and what they could do, but I didn't want their branding to overpower their work. I decided to incorporate black and white as my base colors and use the colors from their logo as highlights. Also, I included a rectangle shape as a new element and black-and-white imagery to mirror the sophistication of their company.

Website:

I redesigned the HDA website to look more sophisticated. The design for the site was the foundation of their branding that Hda would use in other platforms like social media posts and advertisements. I wanted people to look through the website and have the sensation of a clean, simple, and elegant style. I decided to use black-and-white imagery to represent the firm and colored imagery to highlight the projects that they had done. I focused on making the website easy to navigate without being overwhelmed by all the information.

Social Media:

Hda's social media goal is to display its works and reach new clients. The platforms that they mostly use are Linkedin, Instagram, and Facebook. The posts created show a project that they have done or are currently completing and provide information about them. The banners for Linkedin and Facebook mimic the style of the website and include their motto.

Resumes:

Hda uses resumes to show future clients the architects that they have and their skills. I had the opportunity to redesign their resumes where I focused on incorporating the new branding style, portraying an elegant professional look, and playing with hierarchy in the text. I decided to include the architects' signatures to give the resumes a personal touch and differentiate them.

Book:

After finishing a project, HDA gifted their client picture books containing imagery of the processes. I worked on and designed two books, “Price Distributing” and “Frontenac Office Building.” The books were organized into three sections first, imagery of the before, then construction, and then the final result. The books included imagery from drones to images that the constructors took. I edited all photos to look visually more interesting, playing with their color and creating a mood for the books. I played around with whites space and added very little description text to create a minimalistic style.

Proposal:

While working with Hda, we had the opportunity to create a proposal for a potential client. This proposal required working with two outside companies where one of them was leading the project. The main challenge that I encountered was unifying the styles of the other companies and making them look like one unified group.

Newsletters:

Hda would send email newsletters to their clients and anybody in their industry. The newsletters would come out once per month, and they include updates on their latest projects, upcoming events, and information about their company. My goal for the design was to make it easy to read, eye-catching and it had to work for mobile and computers.
