Board Game

Board Game:

“Obsidian the golden Challenge” is a board game inspired by Ludo. The goal of this assignment was to get the bones of the board game and recreate it in my way. As I researched for ideas, I felt inspired by precious rocks and minerals. I decided that Sapphire, Citrine, Ruby, and Emerald would be the players for the game, and their goal would be to get to the golden pyramid. The first player that gets to the gold pyramid would win, and the players would have to overcome challenges. The game includes dice, cards, and the player’s pieces.

Box:

I wanted the box where the board game would be stored to mimic the actual board game. I wanted to go for a moody, mysterious, but straightforward design. The black background represents the precious rock obsidian, and the highlights came from the gold, which is the players' goal.

Playing Pieces:

The design for the board game pieces represents the form of each precious rock. Each player will have the opportunity to choose between Citrine, Emerald, Ruby, and Sapphire.

Board Game:

The design of the board game has the colors of the precious rocks, which indicate where each player has to play. From above, the board game has a mirror effect thanks to the symmetry of the player pathways. Depending on the stone the players use, they will find different challenges. For example, if a player falls in one of the cracks, they will have to pick a card and see the Challenge.

Cards:

The design of the cards replicates the board game and the box to maintain cohesion between them. The cards will let the players know what they should do if they fall into one of the holes.
